Every time I hear someone complaining how unhappy he is, I ask: “What are the steps you want to take to be happy? What is the final goal? Where and how do you want to get there?“

Most of the time the subject of the conversation is changed. Rarely, when I get an answer I reply with a standard phrase - “Find the steps to your goal, split them into small tasks, set the time for each task, complete each task on time until you get to the top. Write the tasks down!“

Every single small task completed will bring you joy and will motivate you to move to the next step.

For small goals, like getting a new car, start running, lose weight -  the tasks may look  simple and repetitive.  Ex: save a percent of the salary every month - done!

But this does not include the details and the details sometimes could be more important or harder to execute than the task itself.

Let’s include the details in the tasks, by drawing a mind map on a paper. Write each task and draw lines to the details. If you want to start running and the only task is waking up at 6 - add the details as separate small tasks - buy running shoes, set the music, set the alarm, get the water, install the running app, etc.

Seeing the entire map drawn on a piece of paper will make you understand better your path to success.

Always have a plan B!

This is applicable for your tasks and details, not only for your final goal. If you plan to run in the mornings add a plan B for the weather condition. If it rains - don’t skip the task, schedule it for later in the day or change it to another exercise like rope jumping or stairs climbing. It might not be the same, but at least you will not change the timing for your tasks.

In conclusion, by creating a clear plan with specific goals and breaking it down into manageable tasks, we pave the way for happiness and success. Embracing the details within each task is essential, as they often hold the key to overcoming challenges. Additionally, having a plan B ensures adaptability and resilience in the face of unpredictability. With determination and flexibility, we can find fulfilment and joy in the journey toward our aspirations.
