Skincare for Men: How to Get Started
I will be honest, I didn't spend a lot of time taking care of my skin. Workouts, supplements and diet, skincare was mostly ignored. I would buy a moisturizer, use it once and then forgot about it.
But as I started to get a bit older, I realized that I needed to start taking care of my skin. I was no longer in my 20s, and I could see the effects of sun damage and poor skincare in the mirror.
Don't get me wrong, I'm still not spending hours in front of the mirror pampering myself. But I have found a few simple steps that have made a big difference in the way my skin looks.
Investing in a good skincare routine does not have to be expensive and it does not have to be time-consuming. You can do a basic three-step routine in the morning and at night and still see the difference in your skin. Especially if you are new to this and don't know where to start, I would recommend keeping it simple.
The most basic skincare routine for men should include these three steps:
1 - Moisturize twice a day. - Find moisturizer that rehydrates skin, replaces natural fats and proteins, and keeps the skin barrier intact.
2 - Use a sunscreen every day - Use sunscreen that's a broad spectrum.
3 - Use a cleanser - Cleanser helps remove excess oils.
If you want to take it a step further, you can add a serum or an eye cream to your routine. But as I said, keeping it simple to start is the way to go.
